The 2009 Tastes of Gold Coast food and wine festival was launched this morning at a spectacular taste and see display at Conrad Jupiters.
Food and wine tastings from each of the festival’s record 31 events were on offer.
Over 17 days - from 21 August to 6 September - the festival will host a diverse range of events, ranging from wine tastings, celebrity-chef cooking classes, lavish banquets, outdoor celebrations and much more.
For the first time, the festival will feature a signature event - Toast to the Coast - to be sponsored by Conrad Jupiters on 4 September. It will be a gourmet event that takes patrons beyond the typical four-course menu, with specially created dishes that have been inspired by the hotel-casino’s premium award-winning restaurants.
Cr Jan Grew, who officially launched the food and wine festival this morning, said the annual Tastes of Gold Coast was now in its sixth year and had firmly established itself as one of the main courses in the city’s banquet of major events.
“The festival is not only a wonderful opportunity to discover more of our many great wining and dining experiences, it also delivers many important benefits for the Gold Coast,” Cr Grew said.
“New events for 2009 include a producers’ market kitchen at Marina Mirage’s Farmers Market and Palazzo Versace will host acclaimed celebrity chef, Michael Moore, at two events for a gala dinner and a cooking class.”
Cr Grew said Gold Coast City Council was again proud to be the major festival sponsor as part of its drive to promote the region as a leading provider of high quality food and wine.
It also further enhanced our image as a fun tourist destination.
